Children's Books Giveaway

  at 8/13/2009
Winner: Announced here! * New winner was chosen*

We love books.
A lot.
I love books so much that I want to share them with you! August is my birthday month which makes me happy. It's just a great month. (Can I get an Amen!) There is nothing I love more than giving people awesome things!

One of you will win all these books! All 6 of 'em!

Two soft cover books- The Last Basselope by Berkely Breathed (I love his books- they are all so original.) "She squired the stuff into the basselope's twitching snarling honekr, which then immediately unsnarled." Where The Wild Things Are by Maurince Sendak (They say you must read the book before seeing the movie!) "But the wild things cried, "Oh, please don't go- we'll eat you up- we love you so!'"
Two hard cover books- If You Give A Pig A Pancake by Laura Numberoff (super cute) "When she's under the bed, she'll find your old tap shoes." Chicka Chicka abc by Bill Marthin Jr and John Archambault ( Such fun colors!) "The whole alphabet up the- Oh, no!"
Two board books - Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown (a classic) "Goodnight light and the red balloon." Guess How Much I love You by Sam McBratney (an adorable story) "'I love you right up to the moon,' he said, and closed his eyes."
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment telling me your most favorite children's book of all time. If you could only pick one book in the entire universe to have on your bookshelf, what would it be? A hard question, I know. You and me both sista- do you know how hard it was to decide on which books to giveaway?? Yeah, way too much brain action going on there.

If you're a follower or subscriber of my blog then you get an extra entry!

Oh! Oh! If your birthday is also in August you get an extra entry too! Isn't that fun!

* Make you sure you leave separate comment for each entry!!
Update: For those of you that said " I follow and subscribe" or something like that, remember that is two entries so leave two comments. :)
This giveaway ends August 25th! I will (unless my husband decides to surprise me with a 10 day cruise to Hawaii or Jamica- gosh, I should ask him about that!) announce the lucky duckling on August 26th. I will email you (assuming you provide me with an email address) and announce the winner on this post. As always, winner will have 48 hours to get back to me before a new winner is chosen. Happy reading!

Hard question! When I was a kid I read Harriet The Spy about 1000 times and the copy I had literally was held together with a rubber band because the binding had broken. My older daughter now loves Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and we end up not only reading it a lot but she'll randomly turn to me and say things like "Peanut butter, peanut butter, what do you see?" while I'm making her a sandwich. It's pretty funny.

My favorite children's story is The Little Prince. I read it to Snapdragon the other day. I liked the rhythm of it, the message, and the emotional tone of the book.
One book on a shelf? If I only had one book in the whole wide world, today, I think it'd be that one.
That said, when I go to buy books as gifts, I am very partial to Wild About Books. It's a lot of fun. Oh, and Not a Box.

That is an impossibly difficult question, but I usually say my favorite is the Harold and the Purple Crayon series. I love the sense of imagination, and remember "getting" that at a very young age -- how cool it was that he was just creating whatever he wanted to happen. So far my son won't look at them AT ALL, but hopefully in time he will.

Ok well being a pre school teacher, I have got to say in the classroom, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is THEE best! Every child in my class loved the paintings and the story. It is so good for practicing counting, colors, types of food, and science (caterpillar becoming a butterfly).

My personal fav is Love you Forever - "I'll love you forever. I'll like you for always. As long as I'm living, my baby you'll be." I remember my mom reading it to me, and now I whisper it in Ada's ear every night.
