Our Favorite Books with Animals

We have more books then I know what to do with. We have books overflowing every bookshelf we own. I have books from my childhood in boxes stacked in the garage. Books from college that I paid $67 for and can't part with. Children's books on every table and every shelf we own. It's really a problem. I need a book room. A room solely dedicated to books. Wouldn't that be nice? I'll add that to my dream house list.

As if we don't have enough books, we also visit the library every week or two and check out more books. Because like I said, I have an obsession.

I'm excited to introduce to you a new series I'm starting here on Mama Notes. Over the course of the next few months, every week or so I'll share with you our favorite books for different topics and genres. ABC books, Christmas books, health books for parents, daddy/mommy books, and much much more.

Hooray for Fish! by Lucy Cousins

This is such an adorable book. It's a pretty thick board book so it's great for babies. The pictures of all different types and styles of fish are so cute, and the words are simple and short.

Cock-a-doodle-doo! Barnyard Hullabaloo by Giles Andreae

I bought this book when I was pregnant with Lucas and we still enjoy reading it. It takes your through a barnyard with all the different animals: rooster, chickens, cows, pigs, geese and more and talks a little bit about each one.

The pictures are bright, big and fun!

Chester the Worldly Pig by Bill Peet

I've had this book since my first grade teacher gave it to me. Bill Peet is a creative author, and this book tells the story of a pig named Chester traveling through his adventures of being in the circus.

I Love It When You Smile by Sam McBratney

A really sweet story about a mama kangaroo trying to get his grumpy baby to smile.


The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

A classic for a reason!

Pete and pickles by Berkeley Breathed

I love love love this book. It's amazing on so many different levels. Buy it, check it out, read it. You won't be sorry with this one.

The Lady and the Tramp

I don't know what it is, but my son really loves this book. He squeals every time I start reading it and we (for some weird obsessed reason) have this book in a few different varieties. Each one is written by a different author with some variation to the text and pictures. I'd say one copy would suit you just fine.
