Party Hat

  at 3/05/2010

We had a great first birthday. At the swimming pool (it's actually an indoor water park, but has a little area for toddlers) it was as if the entire place was reserved for us. There were less than 15 people there, which is certainly something I've never seen before. Lucas and I went down the slide and he walked around in the water and up the stairs (while holding my hands) like he thought he could walk.

Thanks for sticking with me despite all my first birthday ramblings. I realize I was making it a bigger deal than necessary. I hope you won't hold me to it. I'm really not a crazy mom, sometimes my writing just gets the best of me.

It's sort of like when you want to say something to your boyfriend and you talk really fast and it comes out of your mouth before you wanted it to and it sounds differently than you meant it to and now you're worried he's going to break up with you or think you're a crazy person.... or you know, something like that.

But, ya know, sometimes part of being real is saying it just like it is.... just like your head thinks it or plays it out without really thinking it through. To just say it like you feel it. To say it like you think it without editing. It's freeing to do that, and it feels good.

Turns out, the best gift of all was this party hat. Who knew it could be so much fun! What is cuter than a baby ( A TODDLER!!)  playing with his party hat? I don't know. I haven't figured it out either.

This weekend he'll enjoy his first bite of chocolate cake.  I think I'm looking forward to it more than him, actually. I have to hold myself back from getting the frosting out of the cupboard right now. Have you ever ate chocolate frosting out of its container with a spoon? Then put it back in the fridge and come back later for seconds or thirds?

Sure, me either. I just thought it sounded fun so I was wondering if anyone else had tried it.

So cute! Don't worry about they way you've decided to do his birthday - it is all about him and you guys any way. Glad you had fun at the water park and that he enjoyed his birthday hat. My son clapped when he at his chocolate cake.

HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY BIG BOY!!!

Great pics with the party hat. Its funny the things toddlers focus in on. Baby DIVA totally dug the wrapping from her first birthday gifts, could care less about anything else. Too cute!

And first birthdays ARE a big deal. Dont apologize for being an excited mommy!

Happy Belated Birthday, Lucas!

We live right across the street from that indoor waterpark! Have you taken him there for swimming lessons? I'm looking into it, I think my daughter would have a blast :)
