Body After Baby: Week Four

  at 12/28/2010
{We are in week 4 of the current 8 week Body After Baby Challenge! If you're new to my blog, Body After Baby is about moms coming together for support, encouragement and motivation while working towards weight loss and health goals. I started this series after my first was born in 2009 and now continue to hold mini challenges. Anyone is welcome to join by following along with the post and in the comments section, or by writing about it (your weight loss and health goals/plans/failures/successes) on your own blog and linking up each week here. Please visit one another and offer support!  And remember, you are beautiful. Stretch marks DO NOT define us. Mamas are rock stars. Period.}

Let me just be honest here.

Besides that initial bit that comes off immediately following the hours and days after birth, I have not lost a single pound since the birth of Joshua two months ago. A single pound.

How's that for inspiration, eh?

I have really struggled with losing the weight this time around. I realize I'm "only" two months post partum and "only" have 20 pounds to lose to reach my goal/pre-baby weight. I get that. But that doesn't make it any different for me. With Lucas, my first babe, I was at the gym two weeks after his birth and back to my pre-baby weight within months. This time? Um, a little harder.

The biggest issue is my diet. I need to get my act together. Apparently.

I have reasons- excuses- why I can't get to the gym. I believe most of them are reasonable ones, having a toddler and a newborn, working part time away from home and having a husband working full time, but,  they are still reasons and if I really want to get serious about getting this weight off  and fitting back into my jeans, I need to stop giving myself reasons why I can't go and just- make it happen.

You know?

I'm wondering, are you making it happen? How serious are you?

Maybe it's time we step things up a notch.

I need inspiration too. I really want to take family pictures for my 25th bday in May. That's the only motivation I have right now.

Keep it up. =) You're a busy mama to two boys!

You have a lot going on. Weight loss has always been a struggle for me pre baby, and i'm expecting it to be much harder after Bug arrives. DH and I are making plans for post baby weight loss and have agreed that we will always grant a break to the partner wanting to go to the gym. I NEED alone time so if the easiest way to get it is working out, I know I'll be more likely yo take advantage. I also really want an ipad and have decided to put away a few bucks everytime I hit a 5 pound milestone to make it happen. I'mgoing to get it when I hit my pre preggo weight. Good thing I gained so much I'll ha e plenty of time to save. (Okay, maybe not)

Is there something you really want that you could work for? Is doesn't even have to be something that costs$ .

I know you know... but still goes to be reminded to be gentle with yourself! You do have a lot going on with adjusting to two ~ making sure both wee ones get quality time, over coming various levels and forms of mommy guilt and going so public with your goals. Each pregnancy is different and you will get there! I think that what you are doing with this is inspirational. One day at a time. One pound at a time.

I am also having a hard time and I dont have a toddler and a newborn - just a toddler. I know how hard it is with one young one. Dont be too hard on yourself. It is harder the second and third time around. Hugs.

Hang in there. A routine takes time, especially getting both kids acquainted to the gym...diet is also my problem - I LOVE SNACKS! And there are too many laying around with these kids....

Hey Everyone, I have had to drop out of the Body After Baby challenge. Why? Well, it seems I am now participating in Body BEFORE Baby... That's right, I'm pregnant. Talk about a surprise! EEK! I sure don't feel ready for number three, but here we go! Sorry for being MIA from the comments for awhile, I have been alternating between sleepiness and nausea for the past few weeks. Good luck to all you wonderful ladies and know that from what little I have seen, you all are beautiful and amazing women.

Thanks all. I try not to be too hard on myself, but the lack of working out and feeling gross is not fun. :( I hope I can do better in the new year!

Rachel - Congratulations!! :)

Congratulations Rachel. Personally, I found adding the third baby easier than the 2nd :)

Exciting news Rachel!!

Half way through ladies and with the New Year it is a great time to set/start new goals. Mine will definitely be to get back on a gym schedule as I struggle with exercising too.

Good luck

Getting on and sticking to a schedule can be hard! I find myself adjusting things every few weeks or even days sometimes. Best of luck finding what works for you, Samantha.

I always find that weight loss for me is 80% diet 20% exercise, so maybe take a couple of weeks and really focus on your diet.

I'm late to the game, but it has been crazy around my house. I totally understand about the gym thing...It is so hard for me and I don't even go to the gym to work out! I can just go to my living room or my garage. I think the key is just going to be being active with the kiddos. Going to the park and playing active games (probably too cold for you to do that outside), dancing with the kids in the playroom (really good exercise), putting the kids on my back and playing horsey push ups, flying them like airplanes while I'm on my back. I am going to just have to work exercise into what I'm already doing.
