I love this idea! I just showed DH and he agreed and said he could do some this weekend. We've been looking for a "different" way to display the books at his level (32 inches at 14 months), and this is great!!!!

Hey Mama, I thought I had the prefect solution to the book issue with the sling bookcase, BUT this is EVEN more perfect like 100 million times more perfect. Those are amazing!! We're redoing our son's room (goodbye toddler bed) and this is a GREAT idea! I hate how all the books don't fit right on his shelves or he has trouble putting them back up so they stay on..etc, etc, etc *sigh* Showing this to hubby so he doesn't think I'm crazy!

I found your blog(?) through the "Cloth Diaper Whisperer" newsletter from Diapershops.com. It was recommended by the February "spotlight mom", and I decided to check it out.

I saw the rain gutter book shelves and was hooked. What a great idea! Right now I use an oversized shelving unit for my son's books. Only the very short books will stand up, so I have to lay most of his books in piles on the shelves. What a pain. (Not a big deal for him yet, as he's only 5 months.) My space is limited because of the shape of his room, and I haven't found a bookshelf that will fit in the area I want it...but these gutter shelves will!! They won't take up precious floor space! And, I can even customizze them to follow the shape of the wall and ceiling.
I can't wait tp make some for James. I'm so glad I found you.

I am a 2nd grade teacher and used to teach kindergarten. Anyway I saw a teacher had these in her classroom and never thought of doing it in our boys' rooms! I also thought they might be hard to do, but you've inspitrd us to try!

This is great! I would definitely do this if there was more room in my baby's bedroom. It is pretty much full right now with the crib, changing table, shelves (with toys and books) and dresser. It's a tiny room. Anyway, great job on the project and on the photos showing it to us!
